The great Brihadishwara Temple, located in Thanjavur District, India, was built by the great Chola king Rajaraja I in the period of 11th century. The proper name of this temple call as Peruvudaiyaar Temple. The world’s first complete wonderful granite temple, Brihadishwara is a brilliant best example of the Dravidian style of temple architecture. The total temple tower is 66 meters (216 feet) high making it one of the best tallest temples in the world.

The entire Brihadishwara Temple structure is made out of huge hard granite stones, powerful a material sparsely available in great Thanjavur area where the temple is. Built in 1010 AD by king Raja Raja Chola in Thanjavur, Brihadishwara Temple, also most popularly known as the ‘Big Temple', turned 1000 years old in world 2010.
